SLEEPING GIANT is a photographic series by artist and Graphis Master Photographer Athena Azevedo taken of the Brasilia Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro - Oscar Niemeyer designed national theater of Brasilia. The photographs were taking during the rehearsal of João MacDowell’s “Symphony Number 1” with the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro (Brazil’s National Orchestra). The double exposure of the images suggests multiple possible futures for the theater complex and UNESCO World Heritage site which had just closed to the public for restoration in 2014.
