OPERA NOVA

for the
opera house
+ beyond

Repertoire development is the core

of IBOC's mission. We approach

opera as a transformative space for collaboration and dialogue and innovation comes through micro-experiments. We're testing opera's borders by mixing genres, cultures, and technology.

ARTISTS

cultural exchange career program for creators, shakers, movers + music makers

IBOC supports the careers of emerging artists and challenges them to leverage opera tools, like Hugo Sanbone, who hails from Salvador, Bahia, and is developing his first opera through the "Yemanja Project."

TEAM

embrace the difference

IBOC was co-founded in 2014 by a group of professionals of LatinX, Immigrant, African American, and Jewish Origins.  We formed the company because of a need for diversity in the operatic repertoire and our immigrant artist's community needed a door and a platform to leverage their vast skills.

PRIVATE EVENTS

bring us to you

IBOC events are professionally executed and we’ve been trusted through partnerships with recognizable brands such as the Met Opera, Volvo, the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce, Scandinavia House, and the Americas Society.

"Just as Sayão, Villa-Lobos and Szot left Brazil to advance their careers, especially in New York, so too did composer João MacDowell. He created the International Brazilian Opera Company in New York and is its artistic director."
